Privacy Policy for BuddySplit

This Privacy Policy describes how BuddySplit (the "Application"), developed and published by GYMBUDDY INDIA ("we", "us", or "our"), handles your data.

1. Offline-First Local Data Storage

BuddySplit is engineered as an offline-first, private personal ledger. All information you record within the Application, including names, phone numbers, transaction logs, balances, notes, and currency settings, is stored exclusively on your device using local browser storage (IndexedDB) by default.

• No Account Required: You do not need to register an account, log in, or provide an email address to use BuddySplit. Every feature works fully offline and on-device.
• Optional Cloud Backup: If you choose to sign in (with a Google account or an email and password), the Application also stores your account email address and a copy of your ledger in our cloud database (Google Firebase) so it can sync across your own devices. This is entirely optional and only happens if you sign in yourself.

2. Data Collection and Usage

• We do NOT sell your personal or financial data, and we do NOT share it with third parties.
• We do NOT track your precise location.
• We do NOT access your contacts unless you explicitly interact with system share/clipboard features.
• If you sign in, we collect your email address (for authentication) and the ledger entries you create (names, amounts, reasons, and dates you enter — "other financial info"), solely to back up and sync your own data across your own devices. This data is not used for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond app functionality.

3. Permissions & Device Features

• Clipboard Access: The app includes buttons to let you copy payment summaries or phone numbers to your device's clipboard. Clipboard data is processed locally only when triggered by you.
• Storage Access: Local storage space is requested on your device solely to save your local ledger records.

4. Data Backup and Control

You have full ownership and control over your data:

• Export/Backup: You can export a JSON backup file of your entire ledger at any time from the app's Digest/Tools menu.
• Local Deletion: Clearing your app storage, clearing browser site data, or uninstalling the app permanently removes all local data stored by the Application on that device.

5. Account and Cloud Data Deletion

If you signed in to BuddySplit (published by GYMBUDDY INDIA) to use cloud backup and sync, you can request deletion of your account and all associated cloud data at any time.

In-app: Open the account pill at the top of the app while signed in, then tap Delete account. Cloud access stops when your request is accepted. Account and cloud data deletion may continue in the background if a service is temporarily unavailable.

By email: If you cannot access the app, email saninfahad@gmail.com from the email address you signed in with, with the subject line "BuddySplit account deletion request." We will confirm and complete the deletion within 30 days.

What gets deleted: Your account email address, authentication record, and your entire cloud-synced ledger (all entries, names, amounts, and settings stored in Firebase) are permanently deleted. Any local (on-device) copy of your data is unaffected by a cloud deletion request and must be removed separately by clearing app storage or uninstalling the app, as described in Section 4.

What is retained: A temporary deletion marker containing your account ID remains until cleanup finishes and existing sign-in tokens expire. It contains no ledger entries. We do not retain your account or cloud ledger after deletion is completed, except where retention is required by law.

6. Compliance with Laws

GYMBUDDY INDIA complies with applicable data protection laws, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDP Act, India) and international privacy guidelines.
